Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among ethnic Asian groups. Individuals from Southern China have the highest risk of developing NPC.

Statistics show that males are at a greater risk than women: 1 in 53 men vs. 1 in 131 women.

The incidence rate of NPC climbs steadily after age 20, and peaks between ages 50 and 54.
