NPC Treatment Options
What are the treatment options for nasopharyngeal cancer?

RADIOTHERAPY
Radiation is highly effective in controlling and curing the disease and is the treatment of choice. Surgery may be an option for patients with small local tumor recurrence after radiation. A combination of chemotherapy and radiation is often used to treat advanced disease.
CHEMOTHERAPY
Several factors are taken into account when considering a chemotherapy regimen. Patients with large tumor(s) and metastases are usually treated with combination therapy such as chemotherapy and radiation.

SURGERY
Due to the anatomical position of NPC and its tendency to present with cervical lymph node metastases, surgery is not usually the treatment of choice. Small, select cases with localized cancer in the nasopharynx may be considered for surgery, often after treatment with radiation or combination chemotherapy.
